Sāmoa is a Polynesian island country in the Oceania continent, located in the central South Pacific Ocean, south of the equator. The islands are about 3,000 km (1,864 miles) northeast of New Zealand and 3,700 km (2,300 miles) southwest of Hawaii and huddled among other South Pacific nations such as Tokelau, Wallis and Futuna, Fiji, Tonga and Niue.
Currently the only way to travel to Samoa from Australia is by plane or via a cruise. Airlines and departure cities:
Catching the local bus is an experience in itself, and not for the faint hearted. Must at least try once, however always recommend to go with a local or at least with someone else.
Taxi's are fairly cheap considering the price overseas. Query first with a local how much it should cost and confirm with the driver before accepting.
Tourist guides are a great way to explore the beautiful island but can be costly.
Car rental is another great way to explore at your own pace. Lots of car rental places on island.

A beach fale is a simple thatched hut. Beach fales are also common in other parts of the Pacifi region. They have become popular in tourism as a low budget accommodation situated by the coast, built with a few posts, no walls and a thatched roof with a round or oval shape.
The word fale (pronounced fah-leh) is the Samoan word for any type of building.
In the Samoan language these simple huts are called faleo‘o.
In Samoa, renting out a faleo'o otherwise commonly known as beach fale, to visitors is a common means for providing extra income for families.
There are plenty of hotels and resorts on both main islands of Samoa.
Head on over to the Tourism Samoa page to check out the hundreds of accommodation that will suit every budget.
